Ideas for practical activities
Write out the multiples of the times table you are practicing with your child and lay them on the floor. Ask your child to jump onto the answer to the calculation you say. E.g. If you say 4x3, they should jump onto 12.
Make three set of cards.
Set A - has the the calculation on one side and the answer on the other.
Set B - has the calculations
Set C - has the answers
To practice multiplication
Lay out set A with answers face up and show your child cards from Set B one at a time. They choose the card that shows the answer and checks the back matches the question you just asked.
To practice division
Lay out set A with calculation face up and show your child cards from Set C one at a time. They choose the card that shows the calculation to the answer you have shown them and checks the back matches the answer you just showed them.
