Summer 2

Key Information

 

We hope you have had a relaxing break. We can not wait for another half term full of fun.

 

Our Topic this term is: Under the Sea

To spark conversation we welcome children to bring in pictures from their visits to the seaside, this can be sent named in book bags or added onto Evidence me.

 

During this topic we shall be doing a lot of construction/junk modeling and any items sent in will be greatly appreciated, such as boxes, rolls, plastic bags and straws.

 

PE: 

P.E will continue to be on a Monday. Please ensure children have named PE kits in school at all times and that stud earrings are not worn on these days. P.E kits will be sent home at the end of every half term for washing.

 

Outdoor Learning:

We shall be taking part in outdoor learning on a Wednesday afternoon, please ensure your child has appropriate clothes for the weather on the day.

Closer to the end of this half term the children will have an opportunity to take part in forest school again, a letter with information will go out closer to the time.

 

Evidence Me: 

Remember to add any activities your children takes part in at home onto their learning journey so we can share it at school. The home learning tab has some fun activities suggested that you might want to do at home.

 

Reading: 

Children's reading books will be swapped on a Monday. To support your child’s progress we recommend reading with them for 10 minutes each day .

Can you please add at least one comment per week in their reading log book.

Dinosaur visit- Today we watched the CCTV. We saw that a dinosaur had been to visit the egg that was left in our classroom yesterday

Summer Term 1

 

Welcome Back!

We are very excited to be heading into the Summer term and all the fun that it brings. We can wait to discover and explore with you this term.

 

The topic this term is Dinosaurs.

You can find information on our dinosaur topic on the 'Topic Webs' link and on the 'Home Learning' link.

Please take time to look at the home learning link as this gives ideas for you to support and work with your child at home alongside reading each night.

 

We shall also be exploring life cycles as we hatch butterflies this term and celebrating the Queens Jubilee.

 

Other information for this term:

PE- Please bring your PE bags in on the first day back, these will stay in school until the end of half term. PE will be on a Monday. I will keep you updated of any changes on the class page.

 

Outdoor Learning-We shall be taking part in outdoor learning on a Wednesday afternoon, Please ensure your child has on appropriate clothes.

As the weather gets warmer please ensure that the children have sun cream, we also ask that clothing fully covers arms and legs.

 

How can I help my child

I am so thankful for your ongoing support this year and if you find at any point you would like any advice please come and see me after school.

Please provide opportunities at home to help support your child:

  • Read- Daily (I can swap reading books more frequently if your child requires this let me know)
  • Writing opportunities- Captions and sentences, encouraging children to use their phonics knowledge.
  • Maths- Explore numbers- composition- quantities
  • Addition and subtraction
  • Number bonds
  • Looking at numbers beyond 10 and number patterns.

This is a great topic giving children the opportunity to share their favourite stories and engage with a range of texts. If your child wants to bring their favourite book in over the term to share they may at anytime.

Wednesday 26th January- Ladypool Walk

 

 

Reception will be going for a walk to Ladypool in Blakedown. This will be part of our seasonal walks looking at the changes in the environment. We will also focus on buildings as our topic this term is houses and homes. 

 

We shall go on the walk even if it rains so please send your child in appropriate clothes for the weather (named), ensuring that the clothing is warm and waterproof. We have spare waterproof clothing at school, if your child would like to borrow this please just let us know.

Uniform: A reminder that children should comply with school uniform policy including appropriate footwear and coats for outdoor play. Please make sure all items of uniform are named including coats, gloves, scarves and hats.

Did you Know you can contribute to your child's evidence me?

Upload images or videos of you child' experience aor hope learning so we can reward them and discuss with them here at school.

 

 

Create a Parent App Observation

For each Parent Share observation, you can add evidence. This could be an activity or a piece of work.

Tap on one of the below icons on the app Create screen to start your observation

    1. The photo will be instantly captured
    2. Edit your image using the image edit features – Please Note this feature will only appear if you have switched on Enable Crop Screen in the Settings area of the app
    3. Tap Done in the bottom right-hand corner
    4. Select Tap to Edit

TOP TIP: Your observation will automatically appear on your recent observations bar so you can always edit it at a later date.

Here is how you can switch off this new format open Settings:

FOREST SCHOOL: Forest School on Friday: Please ensure your child has appropriate clothes for the weather.

 

Evidence Me: Remember to add any activities your children takes part in at home onto their learning journey so we can share it at school. 

 

UNIFORM: A reminder that children should comply with school uniform policy including appropriate footwear and coats for outdoor play.  Please make sure all items of uniform are named including coats, gloves, scarves and hats.

Can you please encourage your child to be independent when doing up their coats and getting changed for P.E, including buttons and zips.

 

READING: Children's reading books will be swapped on a Monday. To support your child’s progress we recommend reading with them for 10 minutes each day .

Reception Key Information

 

Please email any queries or messages to the school office, (office@blakedownprimary.worcs.sch.uk) your email will be forwarded onto us.

 

Children need a water bottle in school every day. This should only have water inside and should be labelled clearly with your child's name.

 

Individual reading books will be changed on a Monday. We will be assigning a reading book each week and a story from the classroom that your child will select. Please make a note in your children's reading diary to let us know that you have read at home.

 

PE   We shall have PE on a Monday and Tuesday. Please can you ensure that your child has a PE kit in school which can be kept on their peg and sent home the end of each half term.

 

Outdoor Learning On a Friday afternoon children will have a chance to go outside and explore, taking part in bug hunts, mud kitchen and other fun activities. This can get messy and we ask that your child attends school in suitable clothes.

Long sleeve top

trousers or leggings

wellies and a change of shoes for before and afterwards

Waterproof jacket and any other waterproof if you have them

 

Homework -  We understand the school day is long and your children may just need to rest in their spare time. However if you want to support your child at home we have set some  Home Learning activities. These activities can be accessed on the Home Learning button at the top of the page. You can complete at home as and when you wish. Once you have been set up any evidence can be upload onto 'Evidence Me' so that your child can share what they have been doing with the rest of the class.
