Year 6 Residential Art Trip: Ingestre Hall
Between 26th-30th September, Year 6 met with their counterparts at Clent Parochial Primary, Belbroughton CE Primary and St Kenelm's CE Primary to spend a residential week at Ingestre Hall.
This annual trip enables the Year 6 from similar size schools in the pyramid to meet as a start to their transition time which will end up with their move to high school at the end of the year. It gives the children a chance to practise their socialising skills as well as have a week away from home so that they can further develop independence, responsibility and decision making for themselves. This includes having to make their beds; keep bedrooms tidy; set cutlery and tidy away at the end of meals.
The arts are an important and valued part of our curriculum at Blakedown, so this trip is also planned to give the children fantastic opportunities to work with very talented arts professionals across different fields who are able to inspire and develop new and already found skills across dance, drama, art, music and animation.
The topic this year concentrated on British Values and discussions gave chances for children to consider these and how they would showcase them through their chosen art form. There were two sharing occasions, where children were able to perform their work to each other. The quality of the work was very high and children from all schools had to work together as a team.
There was also time to socialise and spend time in the beautiful grounds as well as have an evening disco on the last night. The Year 6 had a wonderful time and have developed lots of new skills that they can use throughout the year. They represented the school very well with excellent behaviour - well done Year 6.
