This week, we took a day out of our busy timetable to go and experience a woodwork workshop at Woodfield House, where we were taught to design, make and build a bird box as part of our 'Extreme Climates' topic.
The children, Mrs Tromans and I thoroughly enjoyed our day and were extremely proud of what we created! The children were able to use a variety of skills such as: using a saw to create the initial pieces of wood; use a mechanical drill to form the holes in which the screws needed to be placed in; use sanding blocks to add a nice finish to the wood and use a hand drill to secure all of our pieces together.
The children were brilliant at all of the above and it was certainly a day for us all, as a school, to be proud.
They look fabulous and really professional - wouldn't you agree?
