Additional Work to Complete for Home Learning during the school closure.
You will find support via this page whilst school is closed.
New work has been set on www.educationcity.com, TTRockstars and MyMaths. I will monitor this to see what work children are completing and comment (where this is possible). The children can also use their TTRockstars login to access another Maths website by the same company called, 'NUMBOTS.' This has number games for children to complete and earn coins to build their own robot.
The work I have set on this page reflects the learning that has taken place in the class so far and therefore should not be new learning for your children but things that they can practise and consolidate.
Please find at least half an hour each day to practise reading and/ or share stories together. You can record these in your child's reading record.
From Monday 23rd March, you will find a learning grid (similar to those sent in Year 1) of activities that children can also complete at home. **If we are still off school after Easter then I will upload another one with new activities on.**
Each Monday that school is closed, I will upload Literacy and Numeracy activities to be completed onto this page too. **Please find access to these below this message**
You will also see a link below to something called 'White Rose Maths Hub Home Learning.' This is what we use in school to plan sequences of learning (lessons) in maths and each week they are putting 5 lessons (1 for each day) for children to complete. This will be new learning that I would have taught next in school, so your child may need more support with you to complete this work. There is a tutorial video provided with each lesson which will also help you. There are worksheets that you can print off or if this is not possible, then children can complete some of the work in the exercise book I provided when we finished school or in their homework books. I have put the website link below and each week you will find that I have downloaded the worksheets and answer sheets for you.
I have sent children home with their homework books which have their individual logins for online resources. I have also provided pupils with another exercise book and a Kinetic Letters pencil in order for the children to be able to complete learning at home.
Reading record books have also been sent home for pupils to record any reading they do inside. There are reading activities set around a different book below. If your child doesn't have access to the book chosen, I have located a reading of it on YouTube so that you can access it some way. You will also find 'reading challenge' questions and prompts for parents, to help you get the most out of reading with your child at home.
I have uploaded work for other subject areas such as History and Science and will continue to update these. The resources should support children with completing activities that are on the grids.
I found the 'Wellbeing Wednesday' resources and thought that some of you may like to use them to support your children at home.
Mrs Marshall and Mr Newbold have also kindly provided resources and activities for children for Music and physical activity.
Please look at this page regularly for correspondence and home learning activities and ideas as I will endeavour to keep it updated and add anything which I feel may be of use to you and the children.
I look forward to seeing you in the future, take care and keep healthy and safe.
Kindest regards and best wishes,
Please keep checking this page for updates.
** Please look at the class 'gallery' by clicking in the icon below. I have been updating with some photos from our work on The Great Fire of London, some maths work, Police car seat assembly and World Book Day. I thought you may like looking at them. **
Family Challenge!! Go to Go Noodle.com and as a family practise and learn the dance to, 'I'm still standing.' When we are back at school, let's see if we can perform it all together. :)
** Yes parents, I am practising this dance too! **
Access it through the 'Families' section and search for 'I'm still standing.' It looks like they are making their resources available to families without needing to sign up at the moment.
** News from Miss Low **
Hello children and families!
I hope that you are all safe and well, enjoying time with your family and keeping busy with some of the activities I have uploaded onto this page (and hopefully some of your own).
I have been looking at My Maths each day and giving feedback if you have attempted or completed some of the activities.
I know that there have been some issues with www.educationcity.com but hopefully it will be back online soon for you to use. **25/3/2020 Educationcity.com was back online and working when I accessed it today! **
I am missing being at school with you all but am keeping busy by doing Joe Wick's daily workout, reading, listening to music (with a bit of dancing ) and gardening (as well as school work of course).
Try to be as well behaved and helpful for your parents as you are for us at school. I am very proud of you all.
Remember that it is very important that we all stay safe by following Government advice and that you listen to your parents.
I am thinking of you all and will keep in touch and let you know what I have been up to from time to time.
I thought that I would share a picture of my pets with you, as I am spending a lot more time with them at the moment! :)
You have already met Noel and Liam but this is my dog Jesse. You will see that Noel is hiding in the photo of my guinea pigs but I'll try and get one of him next week for you! :)
