Summer reading challenge.

Go to this website to find out more information about the Summer reading challenge for 2020:

It will be a little different this year as it will be digital and online but you can still join up and get involved.

Summer Term 2 home learning.

Please click on the Blakedown shell link above to access home learning for the next half term. I will be uploading work over the weekend for next week as I have been in school with key worker children this week and setting up for school reopening. I will endeavour for future weeks to have work for the following week uploaded by the Friday before (as I was doing previously). Children in school will be covering the same work which I will upload on here (as has also been the case previously).

Again, I know many of you will be working from home, so please follow the routines that you have already established and do what works for you. If your child is enjoying the Oak National Academy or BBC Bitesize work (or something else) then continue to use that.

Please continue to use the home learning email to get in touch and send in any work that you would like us to see.

I will leave the previous work on the class page in case there are things that you haven't done yet that you would like to.

I know that lots of you like Harry Potter. J.K Rowling (the author of Harry Potter) has released a new children's book today. You can find it FOR FREE at:

It is nothing to do with magic, witches and wizards but is a new children's book which she is releasing in instalments on this website each week for the next 7 weeks.

Obviously, because of this, I have not read it so parents, you may wish to read before sharing with your children to check that you feel it is appropriate for your child but she has written it for children. There are also activities and competitions being set on the Ickabog too. If you read it, let me know what you think on the home learning email. I will be reading it each week as I am curious to see what it is about and like.

Happy half term.

Today The Church of England have released the second Collective Worship session, called Faith At Home, on the theme of Courage. You can find it by following this link:

or through the Worship/assemblies page (dove symbol) at the bottom of this page.

Look at Week 2 and the Primary video.

I have uploaded a new video for you and I hope that you like it. I have read the story, 'The Disgusting Sandwich,' by Gareth Edwards and Hannah Shaw for you. There is a writing task to go with it, if you would like have a go at this next week.

Look at the Worship/assemblies page (dove symbol), as today I have added a link to the Church of England's weekly Collective Worship. The first session released today is all about hope. Make sure that you click on the Primary school video.

Have a great bank holiday weekend. "We'll meet again..." ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡งโ˜€๏ธ

Remember, you're enough. Thank you for all you are doing.

In it together. ๐ŸŒˆ

Follow this link to see today's assembly with the cast of the lion king musical at 10:00am:

The theme of the assembly this week is wellbeing.

If you miss the live stream, it will be on the oak national academy site from 11:00am. I'll be watching and singing along. Enjoy.

Hi Year 2.

Lego Life forms!

This was sent to me today and I thought that some of you might like to take part at home:,117G7,7I5KPV,3XP22,1

The National History Museum and Lego are challenging you to predict what life could look like in other parts of the universe. A new environment will be introduced each Wednesday and it will take place for 4 weeks. This links with our science work on habitats and how animals adapt to their environments.

You have brilliant imaginations. Have a look and join in if you like. You could email me some pictures of your creations! I would love to see them.

My first video message has been uploaded for you! See it on the 'messages and blog from Miss Low for children' section of the class page. I hope that you like it?! laugh

For all you Star Wars fans....

As well as VE Day this week, it is also Children's Book Week. Please see the link below for some suggested activities. Try and access online Bug Club this week (if you haven't already) or send me a review for the favourite thing that you have read so far whilst you have been at home!  I look forward to hearing your recommendations. Maybe you'll suggest my next read?! You can also send me your own stories if you have written one/some? :)

Hello Parents, I really want to support you as much as possible at this time and make this experience as enjoyable and stress-free for you and your child/ren as it can be. Please check the 'Support for parents' icon below (which has an Earth symbol) which should take you to some resources I have put together which may give you some ideas and help you with learning at home.

You are all doing an amazing job! :)

Miss Low.

You may have seen in the news that there are now two new online platforms which are offering daily schedules of lessons for pupils to follow whilst they are working at home.

I have put links to the Year 2 online Classrooms on this page by the additional online resources link.

One is called The Oak National Academy and the other is BBC Bitesize.

I have looked at both of these and The Oak National Academy seems to be providing sequences of learning, particularly for english and maths, which build throughout the week. Teachers deliver the lessons in videos and then provide work for pupils to complete.

This can be completed in your child's homework or exercise book.

Mrs Beckford-Bond has also sent a letter out today via Parentmail, which provides an email where you can send any home learning you would like me to see.

This can be sent to:

I hope that you will enjoy exploring these two new learning platforms and that they will keep your inquisitive and conscientious brains busy, along with the other work and activities provided by me.

30/3/2020 We have been sent details of this online library site which are making their books free to access for the foreseeable. Please visit the following website for unlimited access to them for free:

** Please look at the class 'gallery' by clicking in the icon below. I have been updating with some photos from our work on The Great Fire of London, some maths work, Police car seat assembly and World Book Day. I thought you may like looking at them. **

Family Challenge!! Go to Go and as a family practise and learn the dance to, 'I'm still standing.' When we are back at school, let's see if we can perform it all together. :)

** Yes parents, I am practising this dance too! wink**

Access it through the 'Families' section and search for 'I'm still standing.' It looks like they are making their resources available to families without needing to sign up at the moment.
