Welcome to the “Governors’ Section” of our fantastic website.
Blakedown Governors are a committed voluntary team who work tirelessly to support the staff team, in order to provide a first class learning environment for our children. We meet as a full Governing Body each term to ensure that all of our statutory obligations are met, through constant review of policy guidance and support.
All of the work to review, monitor and audit our policies is discharged through our committees which meet in between Full Governors. In November 2007 we embraced a new committee structure, whose work underpins our key strategies:
- Every Child Matters.
- School Development.
- Curriculum Development.
- Extended Schools
More importantly our individual and team work in reviewing school performance at all levels, ensures that we continue to provide the best learning opportunities for all our children.
As well as our current work we are constantly looking ahead to ensure we position our school in the future. Key Challenges we are facing.
- How do we extend the services we deliver and what will they be?
- How do we better support children and families?
- What role do we play to support the new Child Health and Staying Safe Strategies?
- How will we maximise new support opportunities through Every Child a reader and Every Child Counts programmes?
- How do we increase the leadership and skill capacity to support our school in the future?
It is clear that the Governing body cannot resolve these challenges alone and we are committed to continue work with pupils, parents and staff and strengthen our partnership in building a brighter future for the pupils of Blakedown School.
