Thursday 14th September - Literacy

Write one sentence for each of the conjunctions listed - when, so if, but.

Remember a conjunction appears in the middle of a sentence as it joins to two clauses or smaller sentences together.

Don't forget to use a capital letter to start each sentence and a punctuation mark to signal the end.

 

Thursday 21st September - Numeracy

We are currently working on Place Value in Numeracy, inside your child's homework book is a sheet for them to practise the skills we have been learning in school.

 

Thursday 28th September - Literacy

We are currently working on Place Value in Numeracy, inside your child's homework book is a sheet for them to practise the skills we have been learning in school.

 

Thursday 12th October - Literacy

Complete the sentences given to expand the nouns. Think carefully about appropriate adjectives to expand the nouns to give more detail.

Rewrite the sentences, not forgetting to use a capital letter to start each sentence and a punctuation mark to signal the end.

 

Thursday 19th October

We have come to the end of our first half term in Class 2. It certainly has been a busy 7 weeks with every child working hard and giving their best in class. They all certainly deserve a hard earned break.

We are not setting formal homework for over the half-term break, however I must emphasise that this does not mean your child’s learning ceases.

There are many learning opportunities for them to take advantage of if you so wish, including:

  • Reading their school book or other suitable literature

  • Practising their 2x, 5x and 10x times tables with the corresponding division facts

  • Revising all the spellings they have learnt throughout this half term (see the Spelling tab on the class page of the website)

  • Visiting their local library to research our topic for next half term – Rainforests

  • Going on an autumn scavenger hunt

  • Catching a falling leaf

  • Playing a variety of Literacy and Numeracy based games on ‘Education City’

  • Writing a diary entry

  • Looking for food chains in different habitats

Thursday 2nd  November - Numeracy

We are currently working on Place Value, including Addition and Subtraction, in Numeracy, inside your child's homework book is a copy of 'My Maths' log in details. Please find your child's Numeracy homework on this website.

 

Thursday 9th  November - Literacy

Inside your child's homework book us an activity linked to the accurate use of capital letters, full stops and question marks.

 

Thursday 16th  November - Numeracy

We are currently working on Addition and Subtraction in Numeracy and your child's homework this week as been set to be completed on the 'My Maths' website.

 

Thursday 23rd  November - Literacy

Inside your child's homework book is a reading comprehension linked to our topic of extreme climates and habitats of the world. Encourage your child to highlight significant parts of the text whilst they are reading, this will then support them when answering the questions.

 

Thursday 30th  November - Numeracy

We are currently working on Addition and Subtraction in Numeracy and your child's homework this week as been set to be completed on the 'My Maths' website.

 

Thursday 7th  December - Literacy

Inside your child's homework book is a reading comprehension linked to Christmas and how we celebrate. Encourage your child to highlight significant parts of the text whilst they are reading, this will then support them when answering the questions.
